A multi-national
American manufacturer and wholesaler of Home Furnishing is in search of a Senior International Supply Chain Manger (SCM).This position will report to expatriate
Country Manger and will be a key team member of the company’s management
team.The position will oversee some key
steps that comprise the supply chain process: procurement, planning, logistics
and distribution as follows:
1.Procurement (Primary Responsibility) -
*The supply chain manager will lead the procurement team to increase Vendor
Base of the organization in procuring requirements of the facility for Raw
Materials and supplies from sources throughout Indonesia or overseas as per the
company’s specifications and quality requirements at the most optimal
value.Working with production
development group he will lead the price negotiations of all new product
introductions as well as negotiating prices for regular production items.This activity involves recruitment as well as
training of vendors working with Quality manger and field trips to vendor sites
to ensure company’s guideline compliance.
2. Planning – (Key
Responsibility) Timing is very important in any supply chain. If one component
is out of stock or unavailable at the exact point in which it is needed, then
you do not have a cost-effective supply chain.The SCM will lead development of production and shipment schedule congruent
with purchasing activities.He will be
responsible for transforming Customer Orders received from US into a viable
shipment schedule.
3. Communication - The
next requirement is communication. The supply chain manager must communicate on
a routine basis with Global Procurement Manager in US as well as domestic line
managers and key personnel in procurement, development/manufacturing, logistics
and distribution. This will help the entire team understand the timing required
and individual input necessary to make the process run smoothly. Any miscommunication
of expectations could generate costly delays.
4. Cost Reduction
and Process Improvement - Cost reduction and process improvement is an ongoing
requirement for the supply chain manager. If a service or raw material can be
purchased cheaper from a new supplier, without jeopardizing quality, then the
change should be made. If a process can be improved or sped up, then
productivity could possibly be increased. This ongoing task is continually
being examined within the supply chain itself. Cost reductions and increases in
productivity usually equal higher profits.
5. Vendor Management
- The supply chain manager must manage the relationships between many different
vendors and information technology systems. He / she must keep the material or
services flowing smoothly. In order to do this, the manager must have the
cooperation of the company's vendors Relationship building is important in
maintaining this high level of service and quality. The manager must take
responsibility for the logistics of returns as well.
6. Team Building -
SCM will train, develop, mentor and assist his subordinates in all of the
departments that fall within the supply chain process. It is essential that the
various components of the team function effectively. Constant process and
employee review is needed to ensure that the process stays cost effective. Supply
chain management is an intense, process-oriented career. It is about making the
processes of procurement, development, logistics and distribution as cost
effective as possible. The chain must be continually evaluated in order to
produce better techniques, cheaper materials and faster processes.
Ideal Candidate
(Requirements):
An Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of
experience in procurement and planning.
Expertise in Furniture industry is a super
plus points (++++).
An existing network of furniture industry
suppliers is a big plus.
A proven track record of pricing negotiations
is required
A candidate must have had experience in
overseeing and managing supply chain of over 1,000 products.
Candidate must have a college degree
preferably in a business related field from a reputable university.
Candidate must be able to communicate in
English orally and more importantly in writing.The position requires constant communication with US personnel.
We are seeking a result oriented, aggressive
self-starter who can grow into Country Manager position in 3-4 years.
Successful candidate must be able to function
in demanding environment.
We are looking for a candidate who can roll
up his/her sleeves and support other managers when necessary.
