Halal is a large industry and fast growing due to the size of the Muslim population but also the global demand by non-Muslims as Halal is a symbol of quality & safety. The Halal food industry has become a mainstream industry, which has been championed by multinational food companies worldwide. Today the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry is also recognizing the value of Halal for its customers, which has resulted in the production of Halal certified pharmaceuticals and cosmetics by both local and multination manufacturers in especially Muslim countries.

 

Halal is expanding along the value chain, upstream towards animal food, downstream towards food services, as well as the transportation, storage and handling of Halal products. This trend is supported by an international Halal standard, developed under IHI Alliance Ltd (www.ihialliance.org).

 

The basic principle of Halal Logistics is to ensure physical segregation of Halal cargo from non-Halal cargo. This is to avoid cross contamination, avoiding the possibility of making mistakes and ensure that the logistics system is aligned with the perception & expectations of the various Muslim consumers. Halal Logistics ensures that the Halal integrity is protected along the supply chain.

 

This 1-day exclusive workshop in Halal logistics is designed for managers in manufacturing and logistics. In one day, our Halal Logistics experts will share standards, case studies and practical experience and concrete suggestion.

Ir. Marco Tieman, Chief Executive Officer LBB International

Ir. Marco Tieman is the founder of LBB International, a logistics advisory and research firm with offices in Asia and Europe specialized in logistics design and supply chain optimization. Today LBB is seen as an authority in halal logistics, advising Governments and the private sector in developing halal compliant supply chain and logistics operations. Mr. Tieman has a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering & Management Science from the University of Twente (the Netherlands) and is pursuing his Ph.D in halal supply chain management with the Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia). He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Islamic Marketing (Emerald, UK). He has written numerous academic and professional articles on halal logistics and supply chain management.
